Whatever the raise is, you have to realize that we haven't received a raise in SSD/ SSI since 2008.....

I already see price changes, so what is the raise going to do for us ? Absolutely nothing in my opinion.
I know; my electric company wants to raise rates in January!

Suse, the last time we received a raise was 2008, and it was a 2.8 raise....
Your right about Congress, if they had to live on what we do, well.....they wouldn't trust me. Anyone remember when we used to get TWO RAISES a year ? I do....!
Yeah, I remember; when one's on a fixed income doing "more" with "less" becomes the norm. Now that we're supposed to be getting a raise, my electric company is planning on a rate increase in January!!

Default 2012 COLA & Medicare Part "B" Premium Information

The last time there was a COLA Increase...was in 2008 for the Year 2009...which was a COLA Increase of 5.8%.

There was NO COLA Increases for 2010 OR 2011.

The COLA Increase for 2012 will be 3.6%.

Because there was NO COLA Increase in 2009 for 2010.

The Medicare Part "B" Premium was FROZEN at $96.40 for 2010...for those who previously had Medicare Part "B".

For those NEW to Medicare in 2010...their Premium was $110.50.

When there was AGAIN NO COLA in 2010 for 2011.

Those paying the $96.40 Premium remained FROZEN at $96.40 for 2011.

AND those paying the $110.50 Premium were FROZEN at their Premium Rate for 2011.

For those NEW to Medicare in 2011...their Premium is $115.40.

The 2012 Medicare Part "B" Premium will be $99.90 for Almost Everyone.

The following will happen in 2012.
Those Currently Paying $96.40 a Month...will pay $99.90 in 2012.(An Increase of $3.50 per Month)
Those Currently paying $110.50 a Month...will pay $99.90 in 2012.(A Decrease of $10.60 per Month)
Those Currently paying $115.40 a Month...will pay $99.90 in 2012.(A Decrease of $15.40 per Month)

It Might Not Be Much...But Every Little Bit Helps.

Yes, ever little bit does help. Every thing goes up even before the raises are actually put into place. It's a shame, but I will do what I can to make sure my voice is heard.

When we hear, on and on how we are spending the young people's money I see red!! We all have paid into these funds all our working lives. They aren't giving us anything. Someone just broke into our piggy bank!!

I won't complain, just be thankful for what I do have. I guess I just had to get that out of my system!
