    Hi mcfox :)

Yes our htaccess is lacking and is somewhere on what's left of the to do list
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

It's just you'll be losing any backlinks and the like.

Actually, the answer to your question is probably right there in Mike's signature, Abby.

Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 10 posts, your 11th (or higher) post will unlock your account.
Basically, to try to foil the spammers, these forums require you to have been registered for 30 days (and to have made 11 or more posts). Now I'm guessing the issues you are having are related to not having been registered for 30 days on the new forums even though you've been registered since 2006 or thereabouts with the old forum set up.

Perhaps I've got it wrong, I'm not 100% on it but I think that's the problem.

Not sure 30 day period is required, Mike, tbh. Is 14 days not sufficient or have you tried that already?

For attachments you have to be in the advanced editor. Either click "reply to thread" or at the bottom of the page under the quick reply box on the right side click "go advanced".

Scroll down to "additional options" and click the "manage attachments" button. In the window that opens, click the add files button and then click the "browse" button.

Search for the file you want to upload and double click it. Then click the "upload" button.

To use an image from an image hosting site you can copy it's url and in your post type [ url]urlhere[ /url] without the spaces in the [ url] and [ /url].

If the image is not at an image hosting site, you should download it to your computer and then follow the instructions from the previous post.

Yes 30 days was needed due to the amount of sleeper spammers we have. LoL yes there are actually sleeper spammers .... couldn't believe it myself at first Kind of clever on their part though.

Still having some weird issues with the htaccess and it waiting on the host customer support to answer that one.
