    Default Censoring the word "*******ial"?

Somebody on the MS Forum posted about a *******ial downpour, and the first two syllables of the word *******ial were censored. Oops! The word is t-o-r-r-e-n-t-i-a-l.

I can't think why this word should have been a problem.

    Maybe somebody could explain?

    Hello agate!

The spam catcher is programmed to catch certain words that have been a problem in spam posts in the past. A lot of them have had to do with p-o-r-n-ography and designer names. The only things I can think of are that t-o-r-r-e-n-t has been used in some context other than rainfall or that the word t-orrent is a misspelling of the word "orient", which might be on the spam catcher's list.

I'll drop a note to Mike and he'll be able to figure it out.

    Thank you !

Well, I see right away that it's not "orient", so it's "t-orrent".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people whose posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

The word torrent used to be filtered (just lifted it) back when we were flooded with p*rn spam. It was used to break the links they used to post video clips and images.

I'm going to eventually go through the word filter and trim it down since Spam-O-Matic is doing it's job

Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

So if I say someone is bad and that means they are good does the human factor
    think, Bad is cool.

Seems as if most message boards I know anything about have built-in censors that catch certain words. On some boards that feature can be turned off. My guess is that here it can't be turned off.

Oh it can be turned off, we have complete control over it. That is something I'll be tweaking with while I slowly put BT back together
