Our garden is taken center stage right now, everything is ready, at once,,, that means I can,,

we are done with the makeover on the barn,, on to the next project,, tearing down, our pup room,, we have raised and sold so many puppies out of there..

Starting an August thread bright and early even though she's still recovering from that major ordeal--you're one amazing lady, Peg.

You mentioned canning. How many cans can Peg can if Peg can can cans while doing the cancan?

Hot weather keeps on happening here, with a long string of days over 90'. At least so far it hasn't been much over 90', and living on the north side of the building, I don't get any direct sun.

The north side of any building is the place to be, IMO. No glare either.

    Cool

    IT'S PAYDAY!!!

Not that I was hurting for money or anything like that. Guess I'll just mosey on out the door....as soon as the sun comes up.

I think Howie is saying that the party is at his place today?

I so agree, Agate! Our mountains are to the north, so you can have a nice view if your place faces north in addition to being the coolest place to be. I've become a night owl just because it's the only time we have cool air running through the place and the older I get, the less I function elegantly as the thermostat rises. Thank goodness we still have nice cool evenings. And I say "the older I get" euphemistically since I've decided that I refuse to age any more. I've stopped smiling or frowning now just so my face doesn't wrinkle anymore. Soon, I'll be the youngest looking middle-aged-but-still-pretending-to-be-a-25-year-old around; I'll essentially be an expressionless statue in all the photos, but like the statues, I too, shall be ageless. Thanks to computers and technology, I will just have to convey emotions through emoticons from now on. hee hee See what happens when I stay up all night? I seem to get giddy and have strange ideas that seem quite smart at the time, and quite ridiculous when I read them back the next day after a few hours sleep.

Hope everyone else in the heat is managing okay. I think nuthatch lives in CA, so hopefully they're figuring out how to get water out of a stone...I think I read that some interesting new technology is being tested to take the salt out of ocean water and make it drinkable. Hopefully that works before we all run out of fresh water...aren't we going to look back and feel rather stupid for watering our lawns for so many decades because we liked to look at pretty green grass?

Happy August everybody! I hope Cat is doing well, and good to see Peg here mending nicely. Hello to everybody that comes along too. :-)

I am so glad to see Peg posting here. Amazing woman to go through that surgery and be home, thinking about canning. I'm home, but just thinking about canning has worn me out....

I am doing ok. blood pressure has stabilized to around 110/60. Blood levels are improving, not yet normal, though. Weight has stabilized around 138, an OK weight for a 5'8" old lady. Wound continues to heal. Once again the wound specialist decided to NOT put on the wound vac, but to simply dress the wound. Dressings have to be changed twice a day but it is much easier to do that than to deal with the wound vac machine.

Mondays are a trip to the wound clinic -- one hour there, one hour back, one hour at the clinic. Tuesdays and Thursdays the physical therapist comes. Wednesday the home health care aide comes and helps me bathe. Don't quite know why: Tom Cat is the one who gets me out of bed, into the shower, then out and back to bed. I do the shampoo/shower thing. Most she does is hand me towels and wash my back... Wednesday and Friday the nurse comes, changes the dressing, notes any changes. Otherwise TC changes the dressings, does physical therapy with me, helps me in/out of the bathroom, cooks etc. A real trooper.

    Anyway, that's all from here.
...I am not a doctor nor medical professional, and don't pretend to be one, here... :o

I think Dean Kamen invented a device that transforms undrinkable water into drinkable water. I think his idea was to help people with no access to clean water.
If anyone has time , google his name. He's the guy who developed the Segway (which I have), the heart stent! And the wheelchair that goes up and down stairs. I am sure he has invented lots more but that's all I remember now.

    And so it goes......

Don't let this get around but I am feeling pretty good. My family reminded me that was nice but its still hot and feeling good was not an excuse to do any work outside. BLAH blah blah blah.

Lots tomatoes and squash in the garden come on over. Peas, beans and all the cool weather utcrops are finished. I only have a small garden. Neighbor started a fire in his field across the road from us. Something caught ripening the combine (his combine NOT MINE)
no real loss of crops it was at the end. It was breezy and kicking up dust. He couldn't see behind. Thankfully no one hurt but his $250,000 new machine is a complete loss. Needless to say our machinery is going to be pressed into service.

And so it goes down here on Tobacco Road. Drought capitol of the west.

That's just what I did. Wow. I'm impressed. Is there anything the man CAN'T do?

Yeah, figure out what makes women tick, but a man has got to know his limitations.

Peg, you are great - to be up that early, even when one has not had surgery is a feat in itself (unless one is partying of course - like Howie does!)

Vicky, listened to Wisteria and once again enjoyed it. Thanks for the link.

Howie, are you happy about Payday or something like that? Mine doesn't come until 3rd Wednesday of the month. Oh well, it still spends.

Cat it sounds like all your days are busy. That would not be a good thing for me. However, I know that it is necessary for you and it is much better than we all had feared.

Cherie, hope your vacation is good. I just also hope that you will find your parents looking and feeling better than you anticipate.

Agate, thought Oregon was relatively cool. We are experiencing some cool and rainy weather right now - only in 70s today and maybe up to 80 tomorrow. It will gradually climb after that.

Ann, sounds like you and DH2B should join George Clooney and his bride. I think they are going to get married in September and you might could make it a double.

Jeanie, I think you said you watch "The Bachelorette". Well, I watched the ending and nearly dropped out of my chair when the one who got dumped told on national TV that they had made love. That was really in front of God, future in-laws, her parents and her new fiancÚ!! I just wonder if she and the one she chose will be able to overcome that long term. I understand she has spoken out, but that he has not.

Gary, I am only whispering this - hope you continue to feel really good - in fact just like you don't have MS!

Linda, I am going to google Dean Kamen. Sounds like it might be an interesting read.

Will talk to all of you later.
