I'm so glad that you all had a wonderful day! Champagne and stuffing! Yeah, Nick, those would be my choices too!

Tofurky has been deferred to Boxing Day (tomorrow). Jon slept in late, so Jim took advantage of that time to snooze in the living room. By the time they were both awake, the day was 1/2 gone. Jim and I hurriedly decorated Jon's room and hung his ornaments off of the pins holding up his pennants and wall art. Then we decorated Michael's tree. We opened a few presents. Then it was time to turn Jon, change linens, etc. Jim got to bed about 5 p.m.

His Christmas present to me was to peel the potatoes and carrots and chop the onions and celery for the meal. Today, time/circumstances precluded him from giving me that gift. And I really WANT that gift!! Jim is actually a very good cook, and he used to make dinner frequently in the early days of our marriage, before we went to shifts. His roasted potatoes (English style) are amazing, and he makes a sauce with green onions, garlic, butter, brandy and dijon mustard that is stunning.

Plus, I would end up eating alone, as would he about 2 a.m., if I prepared the feast tonight. I'd rather Jim get to bed early tomorrow, after preparing the vegetables, of course, then get up earlier, so we can eat our meal together.

Sometimes Jim and I get to have a large late breakfast/brunch together, but dinners are on our own. Since it's Christmas, I'd like to strive for a nice dinner together. Whatever day we can make it happen.

Enjoy your adventures into vegetarian cooking ~ I think you'll discover that vegetables can be quite marvelous as a main course!

Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!

        Love & Light,

        Rose

          Merry Christmas!

Spent the day with family in Melbourne and had some family friends over for lunch who have also moved from New Zealand recently. It was nice but sometimes I wish we lived closer to family. Most of my relatives live in South Africa and it would be so nice to be with my grandmothers especially because they are getting so old and so there are limited Christmases left. Oh well! I hope I make it back there soon somehow. I have other family in Canada (Windsor) which I would really like to see too. When I go, I MUST visit you Donna!

I didn't really get much but I've found that as I've got older the true gift is the company!

Tomorrow my real holiday starts! Seeing 'Aussie James' who I have posted about a bit, as we are both in Melbourne for Christmas, for the first time in a year. Then my other friend James is coming over from NZ for a week and we are going to tear up the town and indulge in things such as the production of King Kong, lunch at the casino and maybe a winery tour or two. Can't wait!

Anyway, enough rambling from me. Have a great new year. know that I read most days even if I dont post. xx
Enjoying the excitements of life. Looking forward to what's to come! What a ride!

Donna thanks for sharing your beautiful blog post. Sounds like everyone had a special day. Rose I hope you and your husband get to enjoy a xmas dinner and you can relax and enjoy your gift. Wonderful idea. I pray that everyone of my friends here enjoy a happy healthy 2014!
We had a perfect holiday. Christmas eve is always the same we go to church together, then come home and enjoy a quiet dinner of bacon and eggs which somehow became a tradition for our family several years ago. It was great to not travel or keep them out late when they were young. My sister hosts Christmas dinner which was fun happy and pretty relaxing. She is far too generous to my family at Christmas an I tell her every year it's too much. My kids were also far to generous to me I'm very lucky to have such close and caring family. It's always nice to get together and spend so much time with family. Kathleen got exactly what she wanted from Santa it was a puppet dog that burps an farts. It's called The Ugglys. She laughed so hard she almost fell over.

              Merry Christmas!

We had a great day, went to church and then off to Brian's parents for the day. We go to my side on Christmas Eve. Since my Dad's side (all the cousins and kids) had their party early this year we were able to stay at Brian's parents house all day and not have to rush off to go somewhere else. Now that Caitlin is older, it is harder to load up her & her wheelchair and all the accessories (tray, meds, toys) so it was really really nice to just go to one place and stay! :) I hope my Dad's side keeps doing Christmas early like that every year as I do like to go and see everyone. My little niece Charlie (Brian's sister's little girl) had a double ear infection, but was doing pretty good...so cute to watch her play! She is only 1 yr old. I picked out the perfect gift for her...she is in LOVE with Christmas trees apparently and I had bought her the Little People Tree Lighting Ceremony playset! When you pressed the star on the tree it lit up and played a little song. She kept carrying it around the house with her, lol! Logan kept announcing to us all that "he was jealous of Charlie"...he is pretty much over that now really but I think he has heard us talking about it so much that he has that stuck in his head. Caitlin loves her kindle...and boy does she get MAD when the battery dies and needs recharging!! I have not seen such a fit out of her since she had psycho medicine rages! I told her that if she hit me again she would get it taken away for the rest of the day. I am glad that she loves it though...it is her combination xmas & bday gift. I did returns today, only 2 things had to go back, and I also ordered her bday cake...all pink & girly this year.

              Have a wonderful holiday week!!

It sounds like everyone had a really good Christmas - full of love and laughs (Kathleen!) Rose, I hope you got your dinner together, that sauce of Jim's sounds so delicious. And we got to love proper english roasted potatoes (crispy on the outside) in England. Lisa, I'm happy that Caitlin loves her kindle - I guess once the initial novelty wears off, she won't get so upset when the battery dies. Erin, of course you must visit us if you are in Canada, although our great white north is a bit like Australia, distances are long - it's about 7 hours by car from Windsor to Ottawa where we live. But trains and planes are easy :) Merry Christmas and Happy new year everyone! xoxo

Lisa, I'm so glad that Caitlin loves her Kindle! I agree with Donna she will probably settle down about it losing a charge after a while. It took Kathleen a while to realize she had to wait for the charge on her electronics. Especially her Ipod. She loves her music! It's nice that you were able to stay in one place traveling is tough with kids during the holidays. That's why we gave up visiting on Christmas eve and we still stay home and enjoy our time together after going to church. Now that the kids are older time all together is a little more difficult to find. That does sound like the perfect gift, it feels sooooo good to see the little ones enjoy their gifts. Even though Kathleen is 16 (almost 17 as she constantly reminds me) she is still "young" and gets very excited about Santa and her gifts. She is loving Just Dance 2014 for the Wii and getting lots of exercise. When is CAitlin's birthday? Sounds like a beautiful girly cake. I hope we get to see a picture or two.

                    Hi!

January 1st! :) She was a New Yrs surprise (I was due March 16). The cake is one of their valentine designs, pink with lots of white globs of frosting with red hearts sprinkled all over, super cute, and I will definitely put up a picture. She is getting too old for the character designs, they were mostly more toddler choices for those so I went with the girly pink cake instead. Is there a special mat for the just dance or does it use the balance board...I am always looking for more wii ideas for the kids! :)

Just Dance just uses the controller. The new 2014 one has some good new songs on it, some old ones too. Kathleen was dancing this morning for over an hour I love that it's such a great exercise for her (me too when she asks me to join in). We also liked Outdoor challenge this one used a mat that came with it. It's older so it should be pretty inexpensive now, even used is a good way to get games. They do have older Just dance games that are on sal now that the new one is out. If you look online you can read up on what songs are on it.

Thanks! We actually have outdoor challenge, though the boys don't get it out much. The other day I made them turn off the star wars (they play that all the time) and put the outdoor challenge in just so they would do something more active....and pretty soon all the kids were clustered around demanding a turn, lol! They liked the one where they had to sit on the mat and slide down the tube, I even gave it a try, lol! I will have to check out the just dance game next time I'm at game stop (we buy used games). My mom got them sports resort for Christmas, but they need the motion plus thing so I have to order that on amazon or ebay yet before they can play it. I forget to check what hardware is needed all the time before picking games! Oh well! :) I wonder if C would be able to do just dance since it only uses the wiimote? She likes to shake her arms to music.

Buying used is great. Caitlin can absolutely do the Just Dance. Kathleen has no use of her left hand from the strokes, she can lift her arm a bit which she does wave it around when she's using it. This is what I like about the game. Kathleen can get on her feet and move her legs, but not very steadily. It doesn't matter in the game what your doing with your legs or left arm only the hand the remote is in. She doesn't know so she tries her best to imitate it all. There are a lot of just dance games including Just Dance kids and Disney Just Dance so look around online at the songs you think your kids will like. We have sports resort too that's a blast. Kathleen will even do some of those games sometimes sitting down if she's tired. she will even try boxing if I just stick the numchuk part of the remote in her left hand she'll get it up and moving to box it's a great motivator to exercise her left arm.

I have Just Dance too:)! There's no board, you just dance in front of the TV while holding the WII controller and it gives you points if you copy the dance moves correctly. It's fun!
