Listening to the 11PM news. Half of the population of this State is still without power and they are not suggesting that it will be back before the weekend at the earliest.
    We are fortunate.

Smile I'm glad Hurricane Irene is gone

    Hi All,
The wind, rain, and the howling sounds were so scary. :ambivalence:

I don't have great hearing, thanks to ringing 24/7, but I heard all of that two-day rattling.

We have power. Yesterday everyone was out to help clean up. Trees down, bare branches down, and huge limbs off the trees that are still holding leaves. Swept up three times and it kept coming back. We are on high ground, but close to ocean water, so just no driving allowed. Roads and highways closed. No heading South or East at all. Only North and West.

All the traffic lights were out and most stores lost power, so I guess their food is gone.

Today I am resting. During clean-up yesterday, the Vampire Mosquitoes drained me, and it was in the daytime. I am so marked, red and itchy. I had so many bites I got the aches and chills. I think a few spiders took a piece of me too. Big welts. Yikes! I put stuff on them today so if I try not to think of them, then I won't tear them apart with my claws.

I must say I slept like a baby after the big clean-up. Nothing like an Earthquake and Tropical hurricane, in the same week, to keep a girl on her toes. Whew!

    Good-Night Irene (the song)

Please take it easy and careful everyone.
    Lady

May happiness be at your door. May it knock early, stay late, and leave the gift of good health behind.

National Grid got power restored to 27,000 customers here today with about 200,000 more to go. It doesn't seem to make sense who does and does not have power as it could be next door or across the street from places without. I feel badly for those on wells who cannot even get water to flush the toilets. This is bringing neighborhoods together to grill stuff that has thawed and have community suppers.
