Hey people, hope this finds everyone well.
It's been nearly 8 years that I have been posting stuff on this forum about memory, colloid cysts, the brain & other random brain related articles.
My memory having improved over the years is still fallible, and with the amount of info I have posted here I sometimes find it difficult & extremely hard work to ensure I don't repeat posts, that I post relevant info & ensuring the info is accurate, well sourced & in bite size manageable chunks.
For a good while now I have been very conscious of subjecting everyone to information overload, but then find an article I find interesting & think is worth sharing.
I think now is perhaps a good time to discontinue posting.
Please let me know your thoughts on my decision........

Bill:
Please don't. But if you must, I understand. I often peruse your posted links and find them interesting. I often do repeated google searches and google news searches on "colloid cyst". I can't get over the fact that I had brain surgery and like you are dependent on my shunt silently working and doing its job while also dependent on antipsychotics to treat my schizoaffective disorder. Just today, I found Harvey Hawkins and Tisha Danielle Scott (RIP) so know that no matter how inconsequential it may seem to you, someone does appreicate your posts. Godspeed.
Regards,
Matthew

Dr Kathryn Mills, UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, University College London
“Forgetting is in no way a bad thing! Quite the contrary, forgetting is a highly adaptive way to help our memory retain the information that is truly relevant, and get rid of information that is irrelevant. Our brain seems to work under the premise that the things that we frequently use and remember are the things that are truly valuable for us. Our brain appears to strengthen a memory each time we recall it, and at the same time forget irrelevant memories that are distracting us. This way, we might not be able to remember everything in the long term, but our memory system is adaptive
in that it makes sure we remember the most relevant information. There are plenty of memories that have become outdated (e.g.
our old bank details as soon as we open a new bank account), or memories we may wish to forget (e.g. traumatic or embarrassing events). In all those instances, our memory becomes more efficient and adaptive because humans are capable of forgetting.”
