Thank you so much for sharing the link to this Eagle family. Looks like they get started in October. Must have something to do with being Floridian eagles as opposed to Iowan eagles!
The eaglets are so darling! I am happy to be watching eagle babies again!
Like all Decorah Eagle fans, I am praying that Mom and Dad choose their old homestead. They can use the new nest they're building for their summer home!

Thanks for posting this. I have added it to my favorites. From where I am sitting I can see a bald eagles nest. Of course its currently covered in snow. I have been watching this nest for nearly 20 years and I still remember the first time that I realized how big they are. I was walking to the back field (yeah walking I TOLD you its a long time ago ha ha ) and one of them landed on the hay baler as haying time scares up the mice, I had never had anything to compare it to. My grown son still talks about the time the eagle landed in the field.
Mom and Dad Decorah have been hanging around their old nest in the past few days. On 1/7, Mom and Dad were perched on the Y branch, and Mom flew off, then returned with a large twig (railing) and placed it on the edge of the old nest. This seems promising!
Check out the video on the Decorah Eagle Facebook page:
Fingers crossed they remain with their original nest this year!

just started checking my bookmarked nest cams . . . besides eagles, the hummingbird babies have already arrived in California! You can see them here - Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...
Btw, it looks as though the Decorah eagles will be returning to their original nest! They have already been back 3 times today bringing soft nesting material. How exciting!

The Old Nest definitely needs some nestorations, but Mom and Dad don't seem to be interested in making the effort. Whether they have finished the New Nest is unclear too, as there is no camera at the New Nest, only photos from the ground. But from what I've read, they haven't been visiting the New Nest regularly.
I seem to recall reading on the Raptor Resource site that Eagles sometimes take a year off and don't breed. I can't say that I blame them! It's a ton of work!
Dad courted Mom on Jan. 11, but she gave him the cold shoulder (had a headache?). Most probably she knew that it was too soon to mate. And maybe she'd like him to get some work done around their homestead first! Paint the nursery, put the cribs together ...
So, they'll just keep us waiting and wondering. I will certainly miss them and their babies, if they move to the other nest, or if they don't mate. Visiting their nest was always a moment of peace for me ~ and delight. I just adore watching those eaglets grow and learn, and their parents amaze me.
But my hubby and I are loving the hummingbirds, who might just fledge tomorrow! They've been winger-sizing, and they are definitely getting too big for the nest.
Nature is awesome!!

Hello birdwatchers!
No activity in the Decorah Eagle nest yet, but here is the link to the cam (old nest) Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...
I did check on some other sites I have bookmarked and found some activity on one. Roy and Dale are a pair of owls and are in the "courting" stage. Dale is in the nest box tonight and Roy has brought her treats to eat. Personally, I would prefer chocolates or Mexican food over what Roy is wooing Dale with, but then, I'm not an owl! There may be some X rated activity soon, resulting eggs, then owlets. Oh isn't nature grand!!

Keeping watch on the Great Blue Heron web cam, since that is my favorite, but no activity yet . . . it's toooo cold . . . only 9 degrees in Ithaca NY!!
These birds are really interesting and make the most crazy clacking sounds. I loved watching them last year!

And here is a link to a video recorded last year, of the chicks learning how to eat a whole fish. In the video, you'll see what appears to be the young pulling on the mother's beak. That is what they do to stimulate her to erp up something for them to eat. About halfway through the video, she servers up a nice whole, live goldfish! The youngsters don't know what to do with it at first and look perplexed, until one brave kiddo finally grabs it and swallows it whole. Yum! He sure sits up straight after that!
Unfortunately there's no sound on this video. The clacking they make is really something! Can't wait for this year's brood.
Enjoy. I'll keep checking and let you all know when something interesting starts happening!

p.s. here is a link to a few bald eagle web cams in CA. You have to click on which nest you want to see. No activity yet, unless you like watching mice scurrying around in the nests. Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...
This is a decent temporary replacement (or additional!) cam to watch for those who
followed the Decorah eagles, who built a new nest this year that doesn't have cam-ability yet.
