Default Any opinions on inversion devices?

In the throws of a sciatica attack I turned on the TV today so see an ad on a device that hangs one upside down to help with bulging disks. Does this work or is it just another sales pitch to suck money out of those desperate for back pain relief? (They have gotten me many times.)

I would first find gym with one of the inversion machines and try it for a week to see if it helps then make a decision.
