I have received 27 calls from the National Diabetic Association.
I have received 27 calls from the National Diabetic Association.
My phone number has been on the Do Not Call Registry for quite some time.
When informing them of this fact the response has been: Oh... that doesn't apply to us!
Today I filed a complaint at:
https://www.donotcall.gov/
To file a complaint they want a Name and phone number.
The specifics of The National Diabetic Association are:
National Diabetic Association
515 NE 12th Ave.
Pompano Beach, FL 33060
Tel: 954-428-6755
Howdy Dave,
I'm sorry to hear that you have been bothered after being taken off the list. If they call again tell them that you are reporting them for tella marketing. By law they will be fined for doing this to you.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
Sue
Howdy Sue!
That's the problem:
Telling them that you are reporting them doesn't phase them a bit!
No problem now that I have finally found out where I can them and found their organization's phone number online!
I'm just passing along the information to let others who are being harassed know who they can contact to document the problem.
Howdy Dave,
You are doing the right thing letting others know what's going on. I'm glad to see that you were able to get the address so you can contact them.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
Sue
I found another interesting way to bluff them but I don't know if it will work.
Somebody else try the following and see if it works:
Some telephone companies will set up traps for people getting harassing calls.
This may make the caller believe that you have installed a harassment trap and that their call is being documented. If you answer the phone and the harassing caller is on the line, another suggestion is to say: "Operator, this is the call." Then hang up. Or say the word "trap," what time it is and the date; then hang up.
Personally, I'm going with the "file a complaint with the government" route.

I read on the internet that a nefarious group is "posing" as the diabetic association, and phishing for your information, which they then use
in your name to obtain things for foreign countries. If you put in the telephone # you see on your caller ID I think you should verify with a reverse phone or Google search that you are really getting calls from these troublemakers.
The "real" (big) organization is called the American Diabetes Association, for what it's worth. That doesn't mean that there isn't also a group called the National Diabetic Association, but...
Mitochondrial Disease (Complex I Deficiency)--I have complicated medical issues affecting multiple organ systems.
See http://www.umdf.org and http://www.mitoaction.org for more info on mitochondrial diseases.
Dave,
If it is a "real" person and you want to really make them go away, either 1) lay the phone down and WALK AWAY for a while ( record for ignoring stupid calls -- my husband had to let someone jabber on about 35 minutes before she realized no one was there) -- they stopped calling. OR 2) and this is from a phone operator: press the number "4" on your phone long and hard. It SQUEALS in the caller's ear. I have done this and never gotten a reacall from that group. Also, never say the word "yes"; organizations have been known to "mix up" the call so it appears you said you would donate.
The way charities get around the Do Not Call List is that they say they have "had dealings with your before". If you cannot disprove it, you are stuck. They get to call.
I've also laid the phone down & ignored whoever is bothering me. didn't know about the #4 so thanks for that info. political calls are driving me nuts-but it's NOT against the "do not call law".
as for this organization? Dave getting 27 calls is absurd! and you will be wasting your time if you ever call me.if I had extra $$ I'd buy test strips & give to people who cannot afford the high price of them!
