    Yay jingle!

I quit smoking back in 97 cold turkey from 2 packs a day. Man that first week was rough.

hee hee, Mike - I was a BIG smoker. I had smoked 42 years -- 3 1/2 packs per day and I loved every cigarette. I used those patches for awhile and I prayed. I was so afraid of failing that I kept my usual carton within arms reach and the usual spare carton in the freezer. If I had to have a cigarette there better be one nearby.
The best thing for my attempt was being in the hospital for the first 5 days!!

There were 2 things that got me to quit smoking, the first being a girl that I was hoping to impress and the second was that I finally got tired of the smell. I had smoked for just over a year and don't really remember why I had started in the first place.

Oh, the smell!! I did not know how bad my house smelled - didn't have a clue. And I certainly didn't know how bad I smelled. A while after I quit I could smell my house and I would walk past a person in any store and smell their reek.
A professional painter came in and coated every paintable inch with some sort of stuff then repainted. A professional outfit came in and scrubbed the carpets. I washed and scrubbed - every inch of everything else.... including books, paintings, all collectibles - everything! It took months.

I solved the house (apartment) smell by moving I moved out the second week after I quit. It took about a week (after I moved) to get the smell out of my truck and all of my stuff. I was so happy when it was done
