    Default Hate Crimes on Rise

I don't know if the thief who stole my handicapped placard was doing it out of hate or not but.....the headline on the MSRC website does read...

"Hate Crimes Against Disabled People rises"....http://www.msrc.co.uk.....

In 2011, a total of 44,519 hate crimes were recorded in the UK.

I'm more inclined to think that whoever stole it did so out of laziness. He probably wanted to be able to park closer to wherever he was so he wouldn't have to walk so far. That's my first thought.

My first thought is the same as Vicky, but some people are just plain mean....so you never know why they do the things they do.

I did a little delving into this handicapped haters club and found that it is the overcompensating of the new handicap laws, that make peeps angry. And of course, taking your anger out on the handicapped person is a logical answer to the hate club.

Don't the radical haters hate Black peeps for Affirmative Action, and the Homosexuals for any accommodations that may be given to them?? Hitler was a hater of all those who dared to be different..the Jews, the Gypsies, All non-Arians and I think that todays haters would have all been Hitlerites in his day.

Most of us are perturbed with the handicap parking law FINES, which keep rising! A $15 fine would be a big enough deterent to suffice but the fines for parking illegally in a handicapped space is up to $250 now, and I resent the law using me to put extra money into their coffers.

We will always have jealousy and hate among us and that makes me sad, but the greed of our Government is causing some of this hate and that makes me mad.

Sal, The fine here in Georgia is $500 so that makes the placards a commodity that can be easily sold to the unscrupulous. The police are so busy with traffic accidents, robberies, violent crimes, etc. that they do not have the time to police the handicapped spots. If a citizen finds a person using the space illegally the citizen can call for the police and wait until they come to issue a ticket. That could have some serious results for the person trying to keep anyone from leaving the parking space especially if the guilty party is a scumbag who doesn't care about the rules. Personally, I think the fine is a deterrent for someone who thinks they can use the space for a few minutes and get away with it!

We may be one of the last remaining minorities that the bullies feel free to terrorize.

Abby, having a personal bodyguard is a luxury that most of us can't afford.

This is just the guy that helps me out and I gave my car to 6 years to get him to come by and do trash and mail. It's no Kevin Costner <smile>
