I had one school PT that just plain sucked! But that was one out of thirty!! And I feel that school district, the one in my home town, sucked. With the exception of they got me a computer in the late 1980's when it wasn't standard and they provided lots of therapy. But most of the teachers sucked, most of the aides sucked, the curriculum was a joke. So that one could have not even been an actual PT, they could have been a pta or who knows. As a 4th grader I didn't know enough to ask what school did you graduate from, do you have a bs or a ms in pt? They only worked for the district one year-who knows.. My next school PT had the guy for like four years! He truly was very caring and a good person. BUT some of the advice he gave my folks and I-I now feel was crappy.
I think with kids you need to try everything you can!! Even though nothing is guaranteed to work.. I am a huge advocate for early intervention and if I were queen funding for such would be way increased!!! You need to try!!!!!!
As an adult, I just do not think PT would help, been there, done that...Last year m Dr. asked do I want to try PT again, I said I don't see much point. Even after mom and I both agreed that sometimes when they have nothing to help a patient they refer em to PT/OT/speech. That was what was going on. I wasn't a candidate for DBS, therefore just refer to therapy-no thanks. But every adult needs to make their own decisions about what is BS and what could help1
So my thoughts are PTs rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
