Default OT: Good olo fashioned cattle drive

Just thought I'd share a little. This is the area where I live. The county fair is about to start and this is a tradition that has been going on for a very, very long time. I'm glad it is still happening.

Thanks for posting this! What beautiful country! And a town with population 18. No wonder the country is still unspoiled. Not very many people around yucking it up yet.

    Just give them time.

Glad you guys enjoyed the video. This is the one about the cattle drive to the fair. Happened yesterday without a hitch and everyone, cattle and people, got there unscathed.

My husband used to work for Alex Madonna, who passed away a few years ago. His daughters are married to men from the Twissleman family who provide the cattle for the rodeo at the fair, every year. True cowboys.

Paso Robles has a long tradition of agriculture and continues to celebrate it. One such event is the Pioneer Day parade in October, where all the stores close, they hold a community parade featuring lots of wonderful old restored tractors, followed by a free community bean feed and entertainment in the park. Gallons and gallons of beans are cooked in huge barrels and people line up with their bowls to fill and the park fills with picnicing families.
One weekend in Dec., a street in town that is lined with old Victorian houses decked out in their finest Christmas decorations is closed off. Hay rides, caroler in period costumes, chestnut roasting, and little plays are all going on, all free to all.

p.s. Attended my best friends daughter's wedding in Parkfield. It's in the middle of nowhere and is hot hot hot there in the summer.
The home nurse who used to administer Solumed to me occasionally, also live in Parkfield. Paso is southwest of Parkfield, as the crow flies . . . a long commute for work, but not much traffic!

The area today is fast becoming more known for a wine growing region, with wineries everywhere you turn.
