Default ALL emails have been disabled for now

Well thanks to some disgruntled member(s) our host has blocked us from sending out emails. Until I can fully comply with their rules no emails will be sent out. This includes: pm notification emails, thread subscription emails, reported post emails, happy birthday emails, and probably a couple of others I can't think of right now.

Needless to say I'm a not so happy camper about this and will be working on this as the top priority.
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

Sorry to hear that there is a problem, and that you're stuck with fixing it. Thank you for everything you do to keep BT running. Hope it isn't too gnarly and that you will return to being a happy camper soon.

So Sorry Mike. I don't know how it happened, but hope it will not cause too many problems for you.

Well this stinks but I almost never get emails from this forum anyway so it won't be a huge issue for me. Thanks so much for trying to fix it!!

All "registered users" have had the following options "unchecked / turned off":

Receive Email from Administrators, Receive Email from Other Members, and Receive Friendship Request Email. What does this mean? Well basically it means you won't get the automated birthday emails, any mass emails sent out by the admins, you won't receive emails from other members, and if someone "friends" you, you won't get the notification email.

The good news is, that you are free to "check / turn on" any of all of these options if you so desire. I had to turn them off in bulk to save me the days it would have taken to do it one by one.

To tun them back on, click the settings link in the upper right corner, next click the general settings link on the left side of the page, click in the empty boxes to select which emails you want to receive, and finally scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the save changes button.

If you have been registered for 30 days or more, and have 11 posts or more those changes DO NOT affect your account.

The outgoing emails for BTC are not back on yet, this step (and one other that I will explain in a later post in this thread) had to be done before I request the host to turn it back on.

Hopefully tonight everything will be back to "normal" :)

Thanks for your prompt work on this. I found that the only General Setting I had to change back was the Default Thread Subscription Mode.

It figures, the host wants me to jump through more hoops. I'm too po'd to deal with it tonight, I'll get back on it tomorrow. Sorry.

Deep Breath, honey. It's not worth upsetting yourself over this. We can all function without these features. I know that I have since Day One here.

Step back from it, put some space between you and the hoops, and return to it when you feel rested and refreshed. There isn't anything urgent about this issue; I'm sure that all of the BT members would prefer that you take care of yourself than worry and fret over this problem, which, honestly, I don't even understand. But I support you, and your continuous efforts here, and our community, who may rely on this email feature.

I think we'll all be fine, and you can do this in your own time, without pressure or stress from any BT members to get it fixed.

So, again: Deep Breath. In and Out slowly. Repeat a couple of times. Everything will be fine.

Please take care of yourself and get some rest and sleep, Mike. I care about Y O U, not about emails or profiles or PM's or any other features you have provided to us. You come before all of that in my book.

If it affected just current users I wouldn't be so upset, however with the host turning off our outgoing emails, new members can't complete their registration and won't be able to post...that's what's ticking me off. I don't mind some of these hoops because they will ultimately make BTC more email etiquette friendly
