Default Losing vision & eye doctor doesn't know why

The visual field exam shows increasing loss of vision in my right eye over the past 12months. She has rules out cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and she says the optic nerve looks okay. I have taken Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) for over a decade. She says that she doesn't see "staining" on my retina, which is what would be expected should the Plaquenil be the cause. I wonder, too, about it being just one eye. Still, she is recommending I stop the medication. I have many health problems--fibromayalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, Type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, low ferritin levels, GERD, and TIA's in the past. I also get terrible migraines, and they have increased in number and severity. Interesting to note: the migraines on the left side respond to Imitrex (sumatriptan), but the migraines on the right side do not. My friends urge me to see a neurologist. What sort of questions should I be prepared to ask a doctor?

There is a certain type of combination specialist, with a name like "ophthalmoneurologist," that could be useful. The one that I went to had many forms of test apparatus, and with that, plus your questions, you could well get some results. Just try to supply him with a copy of what you have posted. The doctor that you saw gave an analysis based on ophthalmic (eye) matters. Now you need to follow up with the neurologic and brain matters.

I replied to a post you had about a year ago... My vision is gone due to a brain tumor that was only found by a Neuro-Opthamologist did did an MRI of the "BRAIN & ORBITS".
BUT... they didn't put me on STERIODS until after I went blind...wish we had a do-over for that crap. So please make sure they MRI the orbits. Steriods will raise your blood sugar, but it shrunk my tumor. (still blind though)
