    Default OUCH

Everybody is wincing right along with you!

I know that I am always surprised by recoveries from bad times--bad falls. That recovery is one of the good things about this ugly thing called MS. So, latch on to the advice to use PT and keep strengthening those muscles. I'll wiggle my toes right along with you!

Thanks to all you wonderful friends for all the prayers, comments and support. I cannot express how much it means to me.

    UPDATE:
I was never admitted to the hospital, only treated as an ER patient, then sent home to fend for myself. I was initially told nothing was broken, but the following day the ER doctor called to tell me that the radiologist had looked at the xrays and could see a small fracture. The orthopedist's office at the hospital called to set up an appointment. The soonest they could get me in is the 27th.
I called my GP, who did not return my call till the following day. When she did finally return my call, she said that she would call another orthopedic doctor and get me in immediately, but after calling three different doctors, none had any available openings, so I am still waiting to find out what is what. I have not had any home health aide or PT of any kind. Thank goodness I have a wonderful husband, a hoyer lift, hospital type bed and other "equiptment", or I would not be able to be at home at all.
Right now I am taking it one day at a time, and can only endure being up in my wheelchair for short periods at a time. Hopefully things will start looking up soon.

Thanks again for all your prayers and concern.
    Joan

I hope you get in to see a Doctor soon, and like the others I hope that get PT. Thank goodness you do have your husband and you do not have to look outside the home for help with daily living.

Prayers are being said for you.

nuthatch, if you're having pain from sitting in the wheel chair because of too much pressure, or not enough padding in the seat, one of these roho cushions really helps. i broke down & got one for my hard captain's chair. i can't go out without it. it's portable, too. not as thick as some roho's, but still nice. i put a thin foam pillow under mine (staggered) for extra support, and it's a life saver.

see roho postureLITE wheelchair cushion, and LTV cushion. i have the mosaic model. hope this helps if you're having seating problems.

    kindest regards,

    H.

It's hard to brace yourself when falls happen so fast. Or at least that's how it is with me. Before I know it, I'm down.

andreagwolford, this thread is about a fall that happened nearly a year ago. Maybe nuthatch will bring us up to date about whether she's over the effects of that fall?
