Default Why can't my daughter eat?

My daughter can only eat white rice and plain chicken. She was a vegetarian until she got a tatoo with yellow die it in. At that time she started having allergic reactions to different foods. She has been to Rush in Chicago and the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis and each has determined there is a problem but they cannot determine what it is. Has anyone had experience with this type of eating disorder?

Welcome Roxie. I am so sorry about your daughter. I do not have any ideas right off but hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along soon. I am wondering what kinds of tests the doctors have done. I know that there are so many things that can cause stomach problems.

What did they do about the yellow dye?

    Hi Roxie,
Sorry you guys are going through that. Can she not eat because she get's a reaction from certain foods? Is there some way to make sure that the dye is the culprit and not a coincidence? White rice and chicken are very bland; can she handle any type of seasoning? Liquids like Boost or Ensure? I have tons of questions I know, and I apologize for that. I can only imagine how tough it is!
Please let us know how she's doing.

What have they tested her for? Has she been tested for GI diseases? My daughter (not with an eating disorder) has celiac and crohns disease. They really limit what she can tolerate eating.

Welcome Roxie. I'm so sorry your daughter is having such a hard time with eating. This is all new to me so I don't have any idea's to throw out, but I think the questions already asked are important.

I hope you can come back and let us know how things are going. Hopefully they have found the answer and are treating her. How are you getting along? Will be glad to hear from you again soon.

    take care, Jo
