Thread: Etiquette, manners, etc

  1. #1

    Default Etiquette, manners, etc

What the heck as happen to us as a whole and etc? When will this stop and go back to the way we were before this?

This isn't the 1st time that I have thought about or its not going to be the last time. Recently purchased Emily Post's Etiquette: Manners For A New World, 18th Edition, Peggy Post, Anna Post, Lizzie Post, Daniel Post Senning. To me its worth the purchase since its going to be invaluable resource to me no matter what. This should apply to others as well.

Why should this apply to others? Because you think it should? A little draconian don't you think?
If no pain, no gain is true, where is everything I should have gained?

Go back to WHAT way we were? We simply can't lump all people in the same mold. Maybe I just don't understand what you mean. It surely would make it a lot easier to express an opinion.

I have Amy Vanderbuilts book on Etiquette and also have Emily Post on Entertaining. I've had both for many years. I would like to know what you are talking about before I start insulting people?

You've already insulted someone and you're the one who said " When will this stop and go back to the way we were before this." I'm asking, why should your opinion apply to others as well? And its bad manners to assume everyone else will find something invaluable just because you do.

Lil E, I am agreeing with you. It is bad manners to assume all others should feel the same way as Jessica A or anybody else for that matter. I only wanted to know what the heck Jessica A meant.

I don't feel like I am better than anybody else. We are all different, have different value's and different opinion's. That fact doesn't mean we have bad manners.

If the book helps Jessica A, then I hope she reads it. I would like to know what she is talking about.

Lil E, I didn't want you to think I started this thread . I am agreeing with You!

Closing this thread before it gets any more argumentative.
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.
