I swam today, then made the crust for the fish and the salad. I am typicallly in the wc until about 4:40pm and then I relentlessly walk 1,000 steps until bedtime at 7:30pm
I notice now that I am in chair so much that my legs are weaker when walking and that some of the muscles complain from disuse. I am guessing that if the pump works, this will improve, esp if I have PT along with it.

    Scary.

Yesterday I stepped 1,000 steps. All after 4:45 PM until bedtime at 7:30pm. Itís very hard on my body, but my legs are too spastic to walk earlier.

You are pretty consistent in trying to walk, Sunshine. One thousand steps that late in the day is an accomplishment for an MSer and you have SPS to boot! Good work!

Today I swam and I cooked dinner.
I took 82 steps getting ready for the swim which today was at 6:15 am. Legs are spastic but better for that first hour prior to about 7:30am. Am now in a wheelchair, likely until 4:40pm.

The past week has been much lower than 1000 steps: TUes 595, Wed 102 as it was IVIG day, Thrs 500, Fri 530 steps. I try very hard, pushing the limit without jeopardizing well being or spasms in shins. I see this as worsening, but I don’t know if it will last a few weeks and then get better. I do know, the pain can be very hard. I should add that I did not swim Wed, thurs or friday due to medical appointments etc. —- so, I can’ t blame it on swimming and using up my muscle stability in legs.

Yesterday my step count was 1419 which is really good for me. I am tired today. I have found my stronger leg to be so stiff I can not pick it up to put on pants. I have been picking it up with my hands, but can hardly do that any longer. My leg that is not that strong is much more flexible, so I can get that one on. I have started using my green stretch-out tape when I am sitting in my recliner/rocker and trying to stretch my legs to the front, side and pull up on them. I don't know if this will do any good, but I don't see how it could hurt.

I went to the pharmacy and the grocery store yesterday evening. That is how I got so many steps in. Also walking down my walk way twice helped with step count.

Well done, Virginia. Chocolate for you!

Sorry about the trouble with your stronger leg.

Thatís a lot of walking Virginia.
I wonder if a little bit of Baclofen or TIzanidine would help your stiff leg?
    Def you get chocolate.

Today I swam. The rest of the day I am resting and also waiting for a call from the spinal tap staff that schedules. I have left a message yesterday and today. And still I wait.

Sunshine, it probably would help, but the weaker leg is very flexible and I don't want to make it more so. I think it would cause it to be even weaker.

Virginia, when you say it's flexible, would that mean that it tends to wobble?

I've noticed in the last year or so that my left leg feels "wobbly." I don't know if that's the right word. It's as if it's not going in the way I think it should be going. I don't know if that makes any sense.

I swam this morning and it was a good swim with less spasticity. My 3:45am allows me to walk to the pool and swim.
    My step counts were
    From last fThurs:
    Th 500
    Fri 530
    Sat 621
    Sun 654
    Mon 1001
    Tues 534
    Wed 614
    Thrs 1056

Most of the steps occur after 4:40pm until 7:15pm .
I can feel the reduced flexibility in the muscles and I guess its tendons.
Eventually will ask a PT to give me exercises to counteract being in the wheelchair over 12 hours a day.

And to think I was able to surf before this...
