Sunshine, my Mom did some embroidery. All of her children have pillow cases and different things that she did for us. It seemed to help her when she was worried about one of us, so I think it does calm the mind.

I am starting on this kit:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its cheap enough. And, if I continue to like it, I can branch out, and continue to improve my skill levels, little by little.

Looks like a good way to start, Sunshine! It's called cross-stitch in the Amazon description but I don't think it has a cross-stitch in it--though it does have several other embroidery techniques that are often used. It's a cheerful and attractive design--maybe you can hang it on a wall?

I'm amazed at the price. So often those projects cost somewhere around $35-$100.

My DH was out of town this morning, back later today. My friend spent the night just in case, and she consented to supervise a swim. 1/2 mile. It will be very chilly tomorrow, and might not swim tomorrow.

You are downright Heroic Agate! I will try harder :)
40F outside, think I will skip the morning swim— th air is just too cold to get out of the pool and into the house...maybe walk more, like agate. Or rest...

Sunshine, forty is very cold to be wet.

I have been overdoing it. Walks, shopping, laundry, re-organizing cabinets and closets. If I were you, I would tell me to “listen to my body.” But history has taught me that this good time will not last and that I need to move as much as I can while I can. I need to accomplish.

I have had long flares, ages of crippling trigeminal neuralgia, optic neuralgia, sciatic pain, unnamed oddities and the mystery illness with the weight loss. I tell Peter, “It’s like the rain is coming and I need to do all I can before it gets here.”

Does this ring a bell with you?
