Default (OT) Missing Oregon cat turns up in New Mexico after 5 years

This story is almost unbelievable but apparently those microchips can be handy in identifying a missing cat:

My last couple of cats were microchipped too. I think the chip was on the top of their backs, between the shoulder blades?

I never wonder where Sam is. I just look down, and there she is, sleeping on my lap!

But Howie, didn't you just mention that she goes out sometimes? Hope she's microchipped in case she decides to venture on to New Mexico or somewhere.

If she turns up on my doorstep, I'll know where to send her.

Just point her in the right direction, and tell her daddy has some cheese and turkey for her. She will make a beeline home!

Wow!!! I have heard stories like this before on "Animal Planet" channel and will be sure to have a chip made for my pets when I have pets again. Thanks so much for sharing!

The chipping process was surprisingly easy--nothing to it at all.

It might be better not to know. I keep wondering if it stowed away on some vehicle or plane--to have traveled that far! Beautiful cat.
