Good idea Sunshine. Agate, maybe you could try asking about getting it modified to fit your disability.

I went to the bank drive thru this morning and to the drugstore. This afternoon I went to get my hair cut and colored. Then I went to Whole Foods and got some grapes and got a salad from the salad bar to eat tonight.

Not wanting to do much. I have a UTI and not feeling too well. Got some Azo at drugstore and I am going to see Doctor Thursday. I already had an appointment then about my jaw, so will work this in also.

Virginia, could you call the doctor before Thursday and maybe get an antibiotic to tide you over until a culture can be done? Sometimes doctors have done that for me--prescribing a "broad-spectrum" antibiotic that just might start working on whatever bugs you have.

They may be more reluctant to do that now that they're concerned about overuse of antibiotics but maybe you can be seen long enough to drop off a specimen before your appointment. Thursday seems like a long way off if there's a UTI.

Thanks Agate, but I tried that one time with this Doctor and the answer was "no". However, I am forcing water and have determined if I feel much worse that I will ask to come in before Thursday.

    Virginia,
Call the doc office and ask them to put in an order for a urine culture at quest or whatever lab. It takes 48-72 hours to grow out the culture, so at least get a jump on it.

If they wont put that order in, I would talk to the doc about it when you see her on Thursday.and remind them of your age, and your MS and that lag in treatment can be deadly

Alternatively go to urgent care an ask them to submit urine for culture.

Many docs will not treat until the culture comes back, with some exceptions...

My doc will always put the order in. Its no skin off their back. Just describe your symptoms and that you are medically fragile due to age and MS.

What Sunshine said! I've found that most doctors wait until the culture comes back before they'll prescribe anything.

I swam this morning for 1/2 mile and 80 yards, 27 minutes. Did PT today and we talked about instead of walking for 2min45sec at one clip 2-3x daily, break it up so I am walking around the kitchen doing my chores and cooking, just as long as I am on my feet.

The other way, I had nothing left to do my cooking with...

Laura came today and did a little more than usual since I am not feeling too well. So mostly I have just set today, however I did do 3 loads of laundry, and I helped her put clean sheets on my bed and I made the rest up. I cooked vegetable soup for supper.

Bravo for you, Virginia! I think it's great that you're able to do so much in spite of UTI symptoms.

On Monday I walked a museum and came home and did two loads of laundry that included two flights of stairs. I also ran the dishwasher and there is some bend and stretch with putting it all away. Yesterday, I decluttered the house for the house cleaners. Today, I plan to take a walk. It’s clear and crisp out.
