Default Keep on Moving Thread: Sept. 2019

MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move.

Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Tracked your count of steps? Chased your cat around the home? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can support and egg each other on.

REMEMBER: this is a keep on moving thread, not keep on exercising! Any moving is important— it doesnt have to be “exercise”! Even Science proves that...

This thread was started early because I do not know if the storm will impede me posting it in September.

Rabbit, Rabbit fellow board members. It is now September and we are staring into the jaws of Dorian.

This is one horrid storm for the Bahamas. And a nail biter for my region. I hope we are not stupid by staying. Pretty much too late to evac at this point, but will look into it as soon as DH wakes up, sooooon.

That will mean plenty of moving around. I think I will take ativan to relax my legs muscles. Only the disc extrusion will impact motion for Sunshine

IF STAYING, one more run to publix is in order. Will fill all empty containers with water this morning and will need ativan to do that. DH will put finishing work on securing the house and the loose missiles in the yard. He got lots done yesterday, dragging heavy outdoor stuff into the garage...

Once the storm begins, if at home, will likely be out of touch....so, if you don’t hear even a “thanks” from me, it will just mean loss of power, cable, wifi, or conserving electricity.

I just swam 15 minutes, 1/4 mile plus 80 yards. It did feel good to move in teh water, hoping all holds well. It was partly sunny and breezy out, despite looming Dorian.

Today I swam 16 minutes over a 1/4 mile. Then Took ativan which let me cook a lentil soup homemade, delish. Easy recipe.

Sunshine is Howie expected to be hit with anything tonight? He is about 75 to 80 miles from me in Virginia. I haven’t heard anything about that area on the news.

I wanted to make soup today but I was afraid power might go out about half way through and everything would be wasted. I settled for making some tuna salad and having a sandwich.

This one is going to miss me. All you need to worry about is what trouble Sam is going to cause me!

But, Howie, you said you wanted to experience a hurricane, and this could have been your opportunity.

Speaking of moving ... I bought a newfangled (to me) pedometer a month ago and finally watched the on line video to set it up. I was anxious to know how far I'm walking in the morning. Disappointingly, it's only a mile.

A decade ago, I walked 3 miles every morning around our neighborhood in 30 minutes. Now, I walk 1 mile in 20 minutes. Thank you old age, RA, osteoporosis, and hips, which need replacing.

Nonetheless, I persevere with my 1 mile walk, just grateful that I can walk at all. It does help my pain and my blood pressure.

You all inspire me. I'm going to try to add a few more steps to my walk to see if I can bring it up to 1.5 miles.

    Love & Light,
