Rose, a mile is very good. As long as you do that in 20 minutes you are doing good.

Howie, we always worry about how Sam treats you. So today is no different.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! Some mornings I can't make the mile, and I'm home in 15 minutes. But I figure that I'm out there, I'm walking, I'm in nature, bunnies, squirrels, birds, dogs, and that's better than not walking at all.

We do what we can, right? So, everyday, no matter what we do, we are achieving our personal best for that day.

I was out of shape, as I missed walking for quite awhile with Jim's issues from January to June, and of course, losing Jonathan. I tried to walk short distances when I could, because I knew that was important to my health and stamina. So, I have had to work up to the 1 mile. I won't push myself, and I know my limits. I also don't want to be away from Jim for more than 30 minutes. I also don't want to walk too far away from our home, which would increase my distance to get back to him in an emergency. Or for me, if I fall or have some kind of incident.

I have met many of our neighbors in our community on my walks, chat with them, pet their dogs, and most of them have an idea of where I live. Others are just a wave and "good morning." But they all recognize me. In writing this, I finally realized that I should be carrying ID on my walks. WOW!

    I digress ...

Howie, I'm sure that Sam would be willing to use her paw to splash some water on you from her water bowl. I bet that's in her wheelhouse.

    Love & Light,

I've had a communication from Howie's cat Sam. She says we should be more concerned about what he might do to her since she's far and away the smaller and therefore far more vulnerable. Sam is referring to this post of Howie's:

All you need to worry about is what trouble Sam is going to cause me!
Rose, walking a mile is very impressive! I like my pedometer. It really does make me ashamed if I look at it in mid-afternoon and find only 500 steps on it. I try hard to add more steps before the day is over.

Seems you people are getting a tornado or two as well. How lucky can you get?

Agate, this hurricane has spurned more tornadoes over the Carolinas than any I can remember in awhile. What's Dorian got against us? I shouldn't even ask that based on what it did to the Bahamas. That is truly a sad situation.

Finally, my step count average for August (based on 30 days):

    1,349

I'm shouting it because it's the highest average in the last 10 months.
