Default New Pain - Anyone got any idea MS or not????

For Several days my big toe on my left side (bad side) has been hurting upon waking. I work it a lot and then pain would subside, yesterday it didn't go away as much. Today has been even worse. All the toes on that foot are stiff and will not bend as much as the toes on the right foot.
It has pretty much hurt all day.

I can't figure out what this is or what might be causing it. Just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas. Do you think it is MS or not?

Gout? My mother had this, and later the dx was changed to "gouty arthritis." (I think they're two names for the same thing.)The pain was quite crippling. It's not MS-related, or at least I haven't heard that it is. Hope you'll feel better soon!

Agate thanks had thought of gout, but there Isnít the swelling that I have seen other people have or the redness. I have not been eating rich food unless you consider that one piece of Dove that I have. So seems a little unlikely based on that.

I have this in my feet, toes, ankles. The stiffness is painful. For me it is spasticity; the muscles stiffen painfully, 24/7 with some relief here and there.
It is part of Stiff Person Syndrome. But it could also be an MS symptom.

I am sorry you are suffering from another issue on top of your regular ones...

:) Virginia if your doctor gives you a diagnosis of gout, have him change it to arthritis. People with gout cannot qualify for insurance. Years ag i solde insurance before I became a nurse. Jeanie :)

Thanks all! Sunshine, sounds more like what you are talking about and yes I have had spasticity in that leg and foot off and on. In fact I have it today. I was taken by surprise when my toes started actually hurting and were very stiff.

Jeanie, she turned me on to it too. It has helped me in the past with fingers and I thought about it this time in my toes, but they are kind of hard to get to and if I wrap something around them I am not sure how long I could leave it there without moving around.

Maybe soak it in cotton ball or q tip, and then reach it there by hand or with a grabber and put in sock? Or soak top of sock in it, at least one time and see if it works?
