Default Hearing aids that detect falls?

One hearing aid company is promoting a new type of aid that detects falls and notifies people if you've fallen:

Is this a good idea? I'm not interesting in having one of these aids because I wouldn't want anyone notified every time I fell--just if I fell and couldn't get up, as happens to people as they get older.

I doubt that the hearing aid could tell the difference between a fall where you can manage on your own and a fall where you're helpless on the ground but maybe it can? Maybe you set it on manual alert and press the button only if you want people contacted?

The manual alert feature allows the wearer to simply tap the hearing aid to send an alert for a fall or non-fall related event.
    i don't trip--I do random gravity checks.
