It appears there is only one chick in the Sauces nest, but daddy is a very good provider because there are at least four fish in the nest right now!

It looks like someone brought in a load of grass to the Frasier Point nest and the parents have been trying to cover up the youngsters with it. They're getting too big to sit on, so I guess the grass acts as a blanket to keep them warm?
They seem to sit on the actual chicks, not just the unhatched eggs, don't they? I've been wondering if the chicks get pretty squirmy and bothersome while being sat on.

Mama scared me. She flew off and baby fell in a little ditch like place and couldn't get out. I was afraid Mama wasn't going to come back. Guess she just needed to stretch her legs. She returned and with her help baby got back under her.

I feel sorry for that little guy. There are so many dead fish and flies in that nest! Someone needs to clean house!

I'm watching the West End feeding now. 3 youngsters in this nest.

Dad's fortifying the nest while Mom feeds the kids.

Bamboo the emu from the YouTube channel “White House on the Hill” has companions! Watch two more emu eggs hatch. Awesome.

Years ago, before urban sprawl took over Chino, we went to visit hubby's cousin & family. At that time Chino was pretty rural with lots of dairy farms but they lived on just a couple of acres with all their "pets", two of which were emu. They were huge, weird birds that followed you around! They also had several baby goats, which were a riot to watch! Such happy, playful animals!

The three are visible with a parent who seems more interested in looking for possible prey than in watching the youngsters. At least one of them is trying to fly but has a way to go. He skitters along and stumbles over the rock as he tries to clamber up on it.
