This is a case study of someone who developed LAD (a type I diabetes that develops later in life). The patient was successfully treated with oral diabetes meds. But it progressed so they started injectable insulin. With that, the patient then showed Stiff Person Syndrome spasticity. When the injectable insulin was temporarily withdrawn the SPS symptoms went away.

The article notes that LAD often co-occurs with SPS and both are autoimmune disorders.

This is a case study with comments about diagnosing SPS and a nice comment about how smooth muscles can be affected by SPS too, not just striated muscles Those of us with SPS are aware of this through experience, but our neuros might not know this.
