Default OT - Agate: what a sad end...

Agate, remember a few years ago when I posted the picture that went viral of the police officer hugging the African American teen in Oregon at the rally over police violence?

His family sadly was in a terrible motor vehicle accident in California, and 3 of his siblings and his parents were killed.

He, and two other siblings remain missing.

    How sad.

The story was on the local news yesterday, and the missing children hadn't been found. It's so tragic--I hope that the missing children will be found and have people who will take care of them now.

This is all around just a very bad and sad story. Seems the whole family was doomed.

I've heard that they're still looking for the 3 children.

The police said that them do not think the accident was intentional but there were no skid or brake marks.

    Awfully sad,

    ((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~

I found this description to be a bit concerning:

The SUV was at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff, across a 75-foot dirt turnout, on a straight section of Route 1 just north of the town of Westwood. To drive off the cliff, Jennifer Hart would have had to make a hard 90-degree turn from the road, traverse the entire turnout and drive up and over a short berm that sits at the clifftop.

If it was not intentional, then perhaps the brakes failed on the car?

Tragic, regardless of the cause. But more tragic, if it was intentional.

There was an early report that they'd been hit by a drunk driver (who must have sped away). I haven't seen any more about that.

I haven't seen that mentioned in any of the articles I've read about this incident. Granted, I haven't read that many articles.

I pray that the CHP will be able to determine what happened. I doubt that there are any cameras on that stretch of road, so they have to rely on other forensic evidence. Being cautious, as they usually are, they are calling it an accident. Until they have evidence to support a different theory, that will remain the "cause."

Regardless of the cause, an entire family perished. So very very sad.
