It must be very easy for an agency like that one to get around doing very thorough background checks.

When I had a helper, that person always came through an agency like Care.com. The helpers were always supposed to have had background checks but I used to wonder whether those checks had been done, particularly when the word was going around that they were hiring "anyone that comes in off the street."

So Care.com took the money for doing background checks that they didn't really do. They got caught but I wonder how many agencies out there aren't getting caught.

They did them but only checked Superior Court missing many misdemeanors and felonies. No one needs a criminal in the house on top of the stressful reason that they need the help in the first place.

That’s pretty bad. Seems like the figure is low, unless it’s a substantial amount of it’s yearly gross.

It sounds low to me, too,,for a multinational company. Maybe this was for damages the state could actually prove in MA.

    I'll ask my in-house lawyer. ;-)
