Default Vets being forced off opiods because of "opiote epidemic"

I am a veteran who has several painful conditions. I've been using opiods for more then 15 years and they worked for me or did until they decided to wean me off them. I was able to live a fairly normal life at least 4 days out of 7. Now they want to put me on buprenophrine in patch form. And they're also talking about topiramete, duloxetine and ketamine. I'm not sure I want any of these. It took quite a while to find effective treatments for my TOS, Sciatica, spinal stenosis, DDD, arthritis, scoliosis, knees that are bone on bone, ankles and hip issues and CPS. I'm sick to death of having my health decisions taken away from me.

These are the medications I am currently on:
    • ACETAMINOPHEN 325MG TAB
    • ALBUTEROL 100/IPRATRO 20MCG 120D PO INHL
    • BACITRACIN 500/POLYMYXIN 10000/GM OINT
    • CICLOPIROX 8% TOP SOLN
    • CLINDAMYCIN HCL 150MG CAP
    • CLOPIDOGREL BISULFATE 75MG TAB
    • CODEINE 10/GG 100MG/5ML (ALC-F/SF) LIQ
    • CYCLOBENZAPRINE HCL 10MG TAB
    • DICLOFENAC NA 1% TOP GEL
    • ESTROGENS CONJUGATD 0.625MG/GM VAG CREAM
    • FENTANYL TRANSDERMAL 50mcg/HR
    • FERROUS GLUCONATE 324MG TAB
    • HYDROXYZINE HCL 25MG TAB
    • LIDOCAINE 4% TOP CREAM
    • LIDOCAINE 5% PATCH
    • METOPROLOL TARTRATE 25MG TAB
    • MOMETASONE 100MCG/ACTUAT 120D ORAL INHL
    • NALOXONE HCL 4MG/SPRAY SOLN NASAL SPRAY
    • OXYCODONE HCL 5MG TAB
    • TOPIRAMATE 25MG TAB
    • TRANSPARENT DRESSING 4IN X 4 3/4IN
    • TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE 0.1% OINT

I'd love to try pot as it is legal here in CO but the VA won't allow it as long as I'm getting pain meds from them.

I don't understand why we don't do what Portugal did 17 years ago and decriminalize all drugs. It's been quite success https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-10301780.html https://www.drugpolicy.org/sites/def...on_Feb2015.pdf There are quite a few stories on this

    Any suggestions?

Do you realize that the naloxone is reversing the effects of your pain drugs? This jumped out at me - Please, I am NOT trying to be rude, but do your homework on all these drugs you are on. I have been a chronic pain patient for over twenty years and I get treated like S--- by the VA. I agree with you 100%, I would not take any of the new S--- they want you to, I have Many of the same conditions and only get four scripts, soon to be three since I cannot have a certain combination, by policy, not by medical reasons. I suffer from Chronic low back pain, DDD, Sciatica, Peripheral Neuropathy, PTSD, and a whole lot more. I would like you to pm me as you never know who is watching this forum. Best of luck -they use naloxone Also known as Narcan to treat drug overdoses as it reverses the opioids, and you are on Codeine, Fentanyl, and oxycodone - all opoids - the naloxone will negate the relief you deserve and should be getting. Be very careful - the VA will pull your meds given the slightest reason
