Default Facts about Stiff Person Syndrome

About 35% of people with SPS develop Type 1 Diabetes. The body attacks the parts of the pancreas that make insulin. Periodic work up for Type 1 Diabetes is prudent.

It goes both directions I think.

Funnylegs, you know people with SPS? Interesting. It’s so rare. Would they like to read here, or even post here?

Oops! My bad! Sorry for confusion. I meant I knew about the connection between stiff person and diabetes. I saw a TLC/Discovery Channel documentary on it once. Nothing more. The only people with SPS I "met" are the forum users. :)

    Factoid #2
Stiff Person Syndrome used to be called Stiff Man Syndrome. It was then noticed that the majority of the SPS patients are women.

    Factoid #3

It was originally called Moersch Woltman . At least with that name, people would think you have a serious problem. With stiff Person Syndrome, though, they think it’s like a stiff neck and that you’re just being a cry baby!
