Default Stiff Person Syndrome and emotional support needs

The need for support is crucial for many people with Stiff Person Syndrome. Many are initially diagnosed with anxiety and depression rather than Stiff Person Syndrome. Likely itís due to the effects of SPS. The spasms are so excruciating and debilitating and often random, that the person is in a chronic state of anxiety about when the next one will occur.

Depression can be caused by the rapid loss of ones work life, ability to do simple tasks, loss of social contacts . The patient becomes increasingly isolated.
