I saw the GP today, and got a referral for an MRI, which I'll have tomorrow.
She doesn't suspect anything other than migraine with auras.

She's put me on 10mg of Amitriptyline.
I'm not keen on this med as I've read it can make you really drowsy.

If the MRI is clear and the Ami doesn't help, then she's suggesting a headache specialist.

Well...we'll see what the results are. Hopefully all will be good. :)

Good to know your doctor is trying to find some answers with you.

It occurs to me that you mentioned an optometrist in connection with the eye problems, but is there an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) in the picture as well? There should be. An ophthalmologist is trained to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye but an optometrist isn't really.

You need an eye doctor who knows how to look at the optic nerve and what to look for.

What Agate said is very true regarding the difference between an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist. The call an Optometrist a Doctor, but they actually are not. The true eye Doctor is and Ophthalmologist.

Good luck. I hope everything turns out well for you. I also hope you get the right answers.

Hi PurpleTulips (love the nick btw), the tanks button doesn't always work on phones :(
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

    Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

    Thanks Virginia and Agate.
I only had the one short episode of vision issues, and my eye isn't sore now. I will definitely ask to see an opthalmologist if it happens again.

I'm waiting for the results of the MRI, which my Dr will receive today, and I have an appointment tomorrow.

The amitriptyline side effects are numbness and tingling and head pain! I find that quite ridiculous, as they are my issues! I'll chat to the Dr about it when I see her.

    Hi again,
My MRI was all clear! I'm very relieved.
No lesions of any sort, not even migraine related.

So I've gone off the headache meds due to the side effects.
The Dr has 'diagnosed' it migraines with aura. It kind of doesn't fit though, as the numbness and tingling did not precede a headache. Although the vision issue did.

Anyway, I'm not going to chase it further. I did that for 2 years 6 years ago.

I'm going down the path of Chinese medicine treatment, which I respond well to. Yesterday she said my disc was bulging slightly in my lower back, affecting my leg. My super tight shoulder and neck muscles would give me headaches, etc.

If I get anymore eye issues I'm going straight to an opthalmologist!

Thank you so much for your support, advice and kindness! I really appreciate it. :)
