Default Keep on Moving Club: August 2017

MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move.

Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can egg each other on.

Here is a re post of agates last night one, in case you missed it:

This may be somewhat off topic but I saw this on the TV news (PBS) and wondered if others saw it--about Muslim girls in Bangladesh who are surfing in spite of considerable criticism from the male Muslim community:

    http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/surfe...ns-bangladesh/

And, Insee that Howie greased it in with a midnight reply to Agate:

"In a Muslim country, they are really putting themselves at risk. Come to America, and BBS will show them all they need to know! "

For the record, that was the one time I was watching TV news because DH called me over for the surfing segment. Those girls are courageous and full of stoke. It's the start of the end for those medieval men who see women as on earth to serve a man. You can see by the expressions on those girls face and the swagger in their step, why I still surf, no matter how much skill MS has robbed me of!

The girls who surf will end up as women on the forefront to initiate change and free their nation from female enslavement.

That Adaptive Surfing Website is really wonderful to see.

The ADA has made a huge difference in the acceptance of people with disabilities but there's still a long way to go.

Wonder what kind of plant you got for the coffee table?

I always had a coffee table--until MS came along. Several years after the MS dx, I gave up on coffee tables. I tripped and fell over it more than once. A coffee table is handy for people to set things down on as they sit on a sofa or whatever. Around here they make do with a card table. It's harder to trip over it.

You have to admire those girls! With the men in their lives saying things like "Women have to be treated respectfully--they should not be out in the open--they should be hidden," you wonder what century these guys are in.

I don't get the equation of "being treated respectfully" with "being hidden" unless they mean that they respect women so much that they believe in sheltering us from the big bad world?

Maybe you can look forward to resting up a lot after that? Hope so!

They're afraid of their own sexual impulses. Why aren't the men all covered up too? You know, so women won't be distracted by their own hormones.

It's not really about reverence for women at all. It's all about control and enslavement for the power men then feel.
Did you read Ayan Hirsi's book, Infidel ? She lays it all out, the treatment of women by fundamentalist Muslims. Great book if you haven't read it.

Same could be said to a lesser degree re some fundamentalist Christians

I swam 1/2 mile today . 32 minutes. Resting legs now. Twitchy.

Doc called. Endoscopy this coming Wednesday.

Hair cut and color tomorrow, so zero exercise in order to drive and then sit two hours.
