Thanks Linda, I listened to all of it. My audio on my computer is not always the best so I missed some of what he said. However, I understood him to say that this drug was for all forms of MS. I think I had thought it to be for RR and PR, but not yet tested on Secondary Progressive. I was understanding from him that it has been. Since my audio was not very good, could you straighten me out on this?

    Thanks,
    Virginia

Virginia, I'll butt in and say I wasn't sure I heard right on that either but I went back and listened several times. He definitely mentioned SPMS and definitely said Ocrevus would be available for all types of MS.

With Tysabri, the longer you're on it, greater your risk of PML. Since nobody has been on Ocrevus for very long yet, who knows what it will do to people as time passes?

But then I hesitate to try any new drug. Others are more adventurous than I am. They deserve a lot of credit for being willing to try.

This is weird. I was replying to a post by BBS here but BBS's post has disappeared. It probably would have been right before mine.

Default Thank you Agate for that great summary....

My neurologist reminded me that I was the one who brought information about rituxan to him. I am so glad he listened to me!

Following the research is a daunting task....you are a blessing to us all.

Agate, I did understand him to say that this drug has been underway for 10 years. Only time will tell.

Peg, I think it's great that you're going to try this drug. Hope you don't mind if we're on the lookout for news about how it goes for you.

In an earlier post I mentioned that Dr. Vollmer stated that Ocrevus would be available for SPMS patients. He did state that but I wonder if he meant SPMS patients who still have relapses--because that is what other experts have been saying.

    Agate,
As you know, I am on rituxan. My course has never been easily defined although I am now labeled SPMS. I never have had really bad relapses. Just a steady development/worsening of MS from the beginning. Whatever that means!

Thanks, Linda. It looks as if this drug might be treated the same way some of the other MS drugs have been--it will be prescribed for people with SPMS even if there have been no relapses. These categories (SPMS, RRMS, PPMS, etc.) aren't always very clear-cut.

I have a feeling that anyone with MS who wants to be on Ocrevus will probably be able to get it.
