    Thumbs up Politics

    Trump wins, and Hillary loses!

No matter how you voted, it was a close race, and not too much mud slinging until the end of the race. Now lets come together, and support the new President, and see what he can do for America.

See, staying up all night has it's advantages, I got to see the election results just now while most are still sleeping!

Not too much mudslinging until the end??? What have you been watching these last 15 months?? Enough mud has been slung from all sides, and out to the poor, disabled, immigrant, refugee, Muslim, black, women, the lgbtq community..the list goes on....enough mud to bury us all. I have no respect for this president. I fear him and what he will do to my gay friends and family, my friends who will soon lose health care when the ACA is repealed, my own financial future when his economic policies are in place. I grieve for people I know whose families will be torn apart when parents are deported. I mourn for women who will be denied quality affordable health care and reproductive choice. I fear for the supreme court which will suffer the effects of this presidency for generations to come. I intend to do what I can...unfortunately very little..to counteract the damage his presidency will incur on our nation, and our democracy. There will be no coming together, not when there is someone so totally unprepared to be president now at the helm of the most influential country on earth. We are in big trouble, and it has only just begun.

Cat, you are so right. I'm afraid he will ruin everything. I'm scared for my friends who are already struggling to get by.

clouds z, I did Google it, and found this from the Washington Post (May 2017):

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.a56cb13f785b

--which puts the figure at 5 million over the 8 years.

I don't think anyone would claim that Obama had a perfect record as President. There were big mistakes. But what we have now is much farther from perfect than Obama was, IMO, but then I'm one of the people who stand to benefit by having a stronger system of benefits for the disabled, elderly, and low-income people in our midst.

There are a lot of us. There might be strength in numbers.

I haven't been this upset since the JFK assassination or 9/11. I'm upset for everyone I know and upset for myself.

This man has absolutely no experience in government. None.

Everyone who is disabled should be quaking in their boots.

Maybe you've been made to feel guilty about accepting Social Security or Medicaid or subsidized housing?

Don't. The people with the really big money in this country, people like this new President we'll be getting, have been helping themselves to vast amounts of help from the US government.

They think it's smart not to pay their taxes. You probably paid yours no matter how hard it was for you to rustle up the funds. He didn't.

I'm sorry but I can't go into an easy acceptance mode.
