    Cool

Sailing like that would have been wonderful...until a storm rolled in with 20' waves!

Most of those men couldn't swim, and that really wouldn't matter because there was no way to let anyone know you were sinking. Such bravery!

They say he could roll a fine cigarette, with only the finest tobacco.

Ann, I haven't seen Sea Hunt in a while. I can't stay awake long enough. It comes on like 3am. By then, I'm zzzzzzz zzzzzzz.......

Ann, the capitol city, which is where I live was name after him - it is Raleigh, NC.

Also, the nicest hotel (or use to be for many years) was located in our downtown and was named the Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel. It had fine dining and The Virginia Dare ballroom. They finally made it into senior living quarters quite a number of years ago. However, now Raleigh's downtown has been revitalized and is pretty nice, so they are getting rid of the seniors and this fine piece of real estate now worth a fortune is going to be something more upscale. I saw this in the paper.

They did give the seniors 3 years to find a place, but with subsidized living in Raleigh being scarce already I don't know where they are going to go. One senior did say that the place has become rundown inside and that he just hoped he would get a nicer place.

I just hope they all find good places to go.

That's too bad and sad, Virginia. I think people in a building like that become somewhat of a community. That will be lost.

There is a building for seniors and elderly at the end of my street. I know some of the younger women from the bus stop.

At least they gave them three years, but that all depends if they have family or friends to help them find a place they can afford. Older people aren't trash to be put out at the curbside for someone else to carry away. They are people, humans, like us all. They deserve to be provided for as long as they live.

There's something Gates and Buffet could do with their money that would make a meaningful difference to many people.

Why don't you write (or fill out their online contact form: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Who-W...Us/Write-to-Us ) to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and suggest it, let your voice and opinion be heard, on behalf of those who may be too weak or vulnerable to speak up?
