Whichever parent is doing the sitting has been feeding them something but it doesn't seem to be that half-eaten large fish in the nest. Junior eagles won't belong to the Clean Plate Club at this rate. The fish has been there for hours but maybe mom or dad is saving it for one of the family's favorite fish recipes....

My brother just sent me a story about Eagles that are trained to bring down drones. They just snatch then out of the air like flying prey!

Nifty! Unfortunately there's probably an easy work-around--just have bigger drones, so big that no eagle would tangle with them.

And since it seems that the eagles might be injured by these encounters with drones and they're thinking about putting armor on the eagles, isn't there a question about why drones are even allowed to fly around, potentially injuring eagles?

I sound like an old grouch from a bygone era but I really have problems accepting drones into my everyday life.

I recall being a kid, and if a jet plane appeared in the sky all the neighborhood kids dropped whatever they were doing to marvel at it. That's how unusual it was. Now the sky is so cluttered with aircraft that they're colliding. Many birds are getting killed by planes.

    Enough already.

So what was it like when the Wright Brothers flew over your head for the first time?

(Joan, you know I had to say that, I can't help myself! You know I love you!)

Those drone killing Eagles are a Dutch project. I imagine the US has a much more hi-tech way of bringing down drones of all sizes.

That was really memorable! Too bad you were so busy already studying in dental school to notice.

That albatross is beautiful! And there's a baby in the nest--it looks like a tiny hedgehog, as if it's covered with bristles.

Albatross pairs mate for life. (A factoid I picked up somewhere recently.)
