Funny stories. First time eating out with DH and the fish came in parchment. We debated whether we were supposed to eat it or not. Went with "not" and hoped it didn't make us look like country bumpkins

Good looking recipe Laz. May try it :)

I need to know how to make oyster stew. Do you just drain the liquid out of the oysters, heat some milk and put oysters and a little butter in and let cook a short time. Maybe you need to start the oysters with the milk at the same time rather than heat the milk first - HELP, I've never cooked oyster stew!

In the Betty Crocker recipe you don't even need need to drain the oysters:

Thanks Vicky, I think they will be more appealing if drained, but otherwise I was pretty much on target.

    Default Loose meat sandwich?

Yesterday I ran across the name of something I'd never heard of--a loose meat sandwich. Since I haven't eaten meat in about 35 years, maybe it's not so surprising that I haven't heard of it.

I was watching the final season of "The Good Wife," and one of the episodes involves a political campaign in Iowa, where there is discussion of the loose meat sandwich. So I found a recipe for it:

This looks like something that would be easy to make. It also seems like a sloppy joe with less sloppiness. Has anyone had one of these?

I'm wondering about the brown sugar in the recipe. Does that make it taste sweet?

Never heard of it or saw one. Sounds like a lot of trouble just for a sandwich. I sometime take rotisserie chicken like you get in the super market. I eat it the first night with vegetables. Then I take it off the bone in small pieces, heat in pan with barbeque sauce and put on roll that has been toasted. It is so much easier.

From what I can tell it's somewhere between a hamburger and a sloppy joe. Sounds like a lot of trouble to me too.

Looks as if the sauce would be like a BBQ sauce.

I just wondered if anyone was familiar with it.
